Every figure here is illustrative. This is a fictional report, not a current valuation or a completed inspection.
FULL BIKE CHECK / EXAMPLE 001
Advertised: 2021 · Shimano 105 · Asking £1,250
Price depends on wear, spec and an in-person inspection.
Negotiation range: £1,000–£1,150, subject to the seller’s answers and inspection. At the fair purchase range, bike + assumed repairs would total £1,230–£1,410.
Example budgeting allowances, not retailer quotes. Exact compatibility, wear and local labour rates must be confirmed. Shipping, inspection fees, optional upgrades and hidden faults are excluded.
Carbon integrity cannot be assessed from listing photos. Ask about crashes, impacts and repairs; arrange a suitable in-person inspection.
Request sharp drive-side photos and a chain-wear measurement. Replacement allowances are a scenario, not a diagnosis.
Ask for tread, sidewall and braking-surface photos. Bearing play, wheel trueness and braking performance need physical checks.
Confirm exact make, model, year and component codes against the manufacturer’s specification. Different wheels may be an upgrade; “non-original” does not automatically mean “bad”.
A search is recorded with its source, date and result when a usable identifier and database access are available. “No match” is never proof of ownership.

04 / CONFIDENCE COMES FROM CLARITY
A useful assessment tells you what the evidence supports—and where you still need answers.
Built for buyers, with no bike sales or seller commissions in the service model.
Price ranges need comparisons. Parts need compatible replacements. An estimate should always show its assumptions.
Missing photos, inaccessible listings and unverified history are marked as unknown, never quietly treated as a pass.
We cannot establish structural safety, roadworthiness or ownership from a listing. Hidden mechanical faults and internal carbon damage may be invisible in photos. Arrange a physical inspection with a qualified bicycle mechanic; suspected carbon damage needs appropriate specialist assessment. Do not ride a bike you suspect is damaged.

A listing link or screenshots, the asking price and clear photos of the whole bike, drivetrain, frame, fork, wheels and any damage. Add a frame number and relevant seller answers if available. Crop out addresses, faces and unrelated personal information.
Quick Check helps you decide whether a listing deserves a closer look. Full Bike Check adds detailed visible condition, potential parts and labour, a Day-1 budget and a more detailed fair-price and negotiation range. Bike Comparison reviews two or three listings side by side, helping you choose which to pursue. All services are remote assessments, without a physical inspection.
A database search may identify a recorded stolen bike when a usable frame number and database access are available. It cannot prove legal ownership or cover every stolen bike. If a search cannot be completed, the report says so. Ask for ownership evidence and use BikeRegister’s free BikeChecker as one part of your checks.
No. Carbon damage can be hidden internally, and an apparently unmarked frame is not a safety guarantee. Crash history, physical inspection and specialist assessment where appropriate matter. A listing assessment cannot certify a carbon frame or fork as safe.
They are budgeting ranges, not workshop quotes or guaranteed selling prices. Compatibility, actual wear, local labour, parts availability and unseen damage can change the total. The Full Check should distinguish likely items, conditional items and unknowns, with sources and assumptions in the report.
All services require owner review before the report is sent. Your report identifies its reviewer and review date. The example on this page is an illustrative demo.
The launch offer focuses on road, gravel and mountain bikes. Suspension condition, bearings, brakes and other mechanical systems may need hands-on checks. E-bike battery health, motor diagnostics and electrical safety require an appropriate specialist; these are outside this remote assessment.
Quick Check, Full Bike Check and Bike Comparison reports are delivered within 1–2 days after confirmed payment, to the email used at checkout. See the service terms for delivery and cancellation information.
